How I Reignite My Creativity When I Feel Stuck

Over the years I’ve learnt that creative droughts are normal. Sometimes my creativity can hit me like a wave, and I feel unstoppable. Other times, I get stuck not knowing what to do next. It can be frustrating especially after being on a consistent streak.

How I Reignite My Creativity When I Feel Stuck

Write Ideas Down Freely

I write down any idea that comes to my mind, no matter how random or small it may be. Sometimes it may feel impossible to come up with new ideas. Nonetheless, dropping down ideas opens a doorway for more ideas. Remind yourself of the times you’ve hit a roadblock, but in the end came up with brilliant ideas

Change My Scenery

If I’m unable to reignite my spark in one place, and my mind feels crowded. I change up my scenery helps shift my mood, and so I step out of my usual environment.

Here are a few things I’ll do:
– Take Myself on a solo date
-Hang out with friends
– Take a walk out in nature to clear my mind

Engage With Art, Then Create

When I feel like I’m empty out of ideas, I don’t force output. Instead I turn inward and absorb the art around me. Rather than sitting under a dark cloud of pressure, lost on what I’m going to create next. I engage in the different arts I love that’ll help draw some inspiration.-

I might:
– Read a book
– Watch a film
– Paint / watch someone painting
– Listen to music or a new playlist

Feeling stuck is part of the creative journey. Creativity is about inspiration, the little sparks will help you find that big spark. It is not about giving up but instead trusting the process. Always give yourself time to recuperate, it’ll be worth it in the end.
