Wellness can sometimes feel like another thing on the To-Do list. Between are daily life of work and just trying to stay afloat, adding more… can feel like a lot. There’s been many times where I start to journal. By day three it felt more like a chore than peaceful.
My Favorite Wellness Habits That Don’t Feel Like a Chore
Wellness does not have to be aesthetic or extreme. It can be something light and simple that aligns perfectly with your life. It should not feel like another thing you have to do, it should feel like care not work.
My Low-Effort Nighttime Routine
When it came to winding down…I used to always wait until I was physically drowsy to start my nighttime routine. By then even the simplest tasks like putting on my pajamas felt like a chore. I found a more effective approach, by prepping for bed early before the fatigue starts to kick in. This means starting before the sun sets. That way, I don’t have to drag my feet while half asleep. I also skip the 10 step skincare routine, which makes it easier to be consistent.
Infused Water That Feels Bougie but Is So Simple
Plain water can sometimes get boring. Sometimes, changing things up helps boost my mood. Other than the fact that putting lemon and mint in my water makes it look pretty. It comes with many benefits for your skin and energy. It’s quick and simple. Find some infused water recipes, it is unexpectedly powerful, you’ll be surprised the amount of wellness benefits they carry.
Letting Natural Light In, in the Morning
It may sound like something straight out of a Disney movie, but it works. If you slowly want to untie becoming more of a morning person and feeling less groggy when you wake up. It starts with the little steps. Opening your windows or curtains in the morning helps give you a push for the day.
Make Your Favorite Drink without rushing
It might be tea, matcha, coffee… or a frozen margarita. Trying something new and making a drink you enjoy, is fun and satisfying.
Light a candle
I would say this is the simplest thing to do on the list. If you enjoy candles, you might forget to light them. This your reminder. To lighten your mood and embrace your atmosphere. Light the candle that’s been catching dust and enjoy the coziness it brings.
Applying Your favorite scented lotion after a shower
The smell of a scent on your skin after a shower is a touch of heaven. It may seem small and maybe insignificant. Yet it becomes a ritual of peace, especially the times when you’re not rushing to go anywhere. Find your favorite lotion. Don’t save it for a special occasion. Enjoy putting it on your skin. Allowing yourself to have a moment to slow down.
Write a word, or one sentence in your journal
If you feel as though journaling is starting to feel like work. Write that down. If you feel exhausted. Write that down. If you’re speechless and have nothing to write. Write that down! You’ll be surprised by the relief you feel from simply expressing exactly how you feel. No one said journaling had to be long or short. It’s your journal, your rules.
