Roots, Not Layers: Choosing Growth Over Old Patterns

I need to start being active in undoing, and peeling back my bad habits. It’s one thing to talk about it, but more importantly it’s about taking action to prevent those habits. Emphasis on the word prevent.

We are like plants, not onions.
When you nurture and take care of a plant, it grows and stays healthy. When you neglect it, it withers. Yet, with care, sunlight and attention it can be revived. I say we are not onions in this context because once you peel an onion there’s nothing left. While plants renew and respond to nurture.

I want to be realistic and not overwhelm myself with impossible tasks. The only way to grow is to take time, be intentional and nurture myself.

The Little Steps Guiding My Growth:

Procrastination
When you think about it, take a small action.
Write one sentence, pick up a notebook. Start. Every time you think about the task, even for a second. Allow that second to spark a mini action. Every little counts.

Create a Space dedicated to Your Mind
Make a home within your home.
This will help you focus and allow you to slow down, focus and respect the intention of the area. Let your bed, stay a bed. Let Your couch be for relaxation etc. Create a cozy, inviting space for your mind. A place to read, study, plan, brainstorm or create. Find comfort for your brain.

Take a Break
Think about you.
Sometimes we need a break from our break. Allow yourself to be. Stop rushing to do things all the time. Ground Yourself. It’s like catching yourself out of breathe after running up a flight of stairs. Slow down and stop forcing you body pass it’s limits. Just Be

Verse of the Day

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about it’s own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. – Matthew 6:34 (NKJV)
